BOL.COM HEAD OFFICE

Bol.com is the largest online retailer in the Netherlands. Their new head office is in Papendorp Park, Utrecht, where they rent a total of 40,000 square metres of office space over 46 floors.

When establishing their head office, bol.com reviewed the overall energy consumption of their new site. The results were clear: by replacing the entire lighting installation with smart LED lighting they could achieve a total energy saving of 60%. This corresponds to a reduction of 400 tonnes of CO2 per year which is a comforting guarantee for the future.

A total of more than 6,000 Organic Response sensors were installed throughout the site. The result was an immediate save of energy and smart lighting control. Via an extensive wireless network, the sensors now share data about occupancy and energy consumption in each space. The data is available in a web portal which bol.com can monitor remotely to get full control of how the energy is used. The network itself is guaranteed to be future-proof and will allow additional connection to various platforms for building automation (Building Management Systems) to further optimize and broader insights – and a continued save of energy.
