Tennis hall

Tennis is a sport where the players need to cover large areas and quickly figure out where the ball is going to end up. The game requires even, glare-free lighting, not only on the court itself, but also outside the playing area’s lines.

The right light both on and outside of the line

In tennis halls, it is important to have lighting that provides good visibility so that both the players and the audience can follow the game. Tennis also puts high demands regarding vertical lighting, in order for the players to easily see the ball at different heights and react quickly in all directions.

To ensure optimal illumination across the entire surface, we recommend at least 500 lx on the playing area and for an additional 2 metres outside the sidelines and 3 metres behind the baseline, respectively. In order to avoid glare when looking up and sideways, the luminaires are positioned horizontally along the sides of the court. The light is then directed inwards towards the court using asymmetrical light distribution.

20 pcs Excis LED Asymmetric 20,000 lm. Mounting height 7 m (the luminaires are angled 15° towards the centre). Average illumination 501 lx on the playing area including the surrounding area.

Standard for sports lighting

As in many other areas, there is a standard for lighting sports facilities. The standard SS-EN 12193:2018, Light and lighting - Sports lighting, defines the lighting requirements for different sports divided into multiple classes, where you can find light levels for school sports, training and competitions at all levels.
