Squash hall

Squash is an intense racket sport with a small ball and two players in an enclosed area. Due to the high speed and use of both the floor and the walls, it is important for the entire surface to be well lit.

Squash hall

High tempo and rapid turns

A squash hall is different from other halls, since the walls also act as playing surfaces. When making calculations to ensure good vertical illumination, it is important to consider the illuminance and uniformity of the walls. For the best playing experience, we recommend an illuminance of 500 lx horizontally across the entire playing surface and for the luminaires to be positioned at least one metre out from the side walls in order to avoid glare. The players need to be able to see the ball at different heights and figure out where it is going to end up.

Since a squash ball changes its shape in the air, it could easily enter the luminaire and then get stuck there when it regains its original shape. Therefore, it is important for the luminaires to have sufficiently close-fitting external protection.

8 pcs Excis LED Wide Beam 12,000 lm. Mounting height 5.6 m. Average lighting 760 lux on the playing surface, 506 lux on the front wall, 470 lux on the side walls and 420 lux on the back wall.

Standard for sports lighting

As in many other areas, there is a standard for lighting sports facilities. The standard SS-EN 12193:2018, Light and lighting - Sports lighting, defines the lighting requirements for different sports divided into multiple classes, where you can find light levels for school sports, training and competitions at all levels.
