e-Sense Detect

How it works

e-Sense Detect is a lighting control system based on microwave technology, enabling it to be used in several different environments and to satisfy various needs. Because the sensor unit is concealed in the luminaire, neither the design nor enclosure class is affected.

A microwave sensor differs from a PIR sensor (Passive Infra Red) because it can, for example, detect motion through a thin wall or a door. This is an advantage if the luminaire is placed in a WC, for instance, since the lights turn on before the door is opened.

The microwave sensor works like a radar and sends out a low-power signal of less than 10 mW, which is then reflected back. When the time of the reflected signal changes, the sensor registers motion. e-Sense Detect is well suited for use in, for example, public WCs, cloakrooms, corridors and storage areas.

The system is available in two versions: e-Sense Detect On/Off and e-Sense Detect DALI with absence dimming

With e-Sense Detect On/Off, the sensor turns on the lights when motion is detected and turns them off after a preset time.

With absence dimming, lighting for a luminaire can be set so that it never falls below a low level (about 10%). When motion is detected, the lighting level is immediately increased to 100%. After the last detected presence and a preset time delay, the luminaire gradually returns to a low level and, depending on the setting, it can be switched off after a set time.
